Flack took home $185,855 for second place in the second open World Series of Poker event of 2005.Las Vegas, NV In the second open event of the World Series of Poker, a $1,500 Pot Limit tournament, Full Tilt Poker pro Layne Flack defeated 1,069 players, taking home $185,855 for second place. Flack, who earned the nickname "Back to Back" Flack for winning two consecutive World Series of Poker tournaments in 2002, could not pull out the victory in his attempt at a 6th World Series of Poker bracelet. The bracelet was won by Thom Werthmann, who took home $369,535 for his first tournament victory.

When the tournament finally came down to two players, Flack had a huge lead, holding 1,200,000 chips to Werthmann's 200,000. Werthmann battled his way back to even, and on the final hand of the tournament, both players got all their chips in the middle when Flack's hand was a 70% favorite. But luck was with Werthmann, and Flack's bid for his 6th World Series of Poker victory fell one hand short.
