NEW YORK Another column covering the increasingly popular game of poker is coming to newspapers.
The weekly "On Poker" is being distributed by King Features Syndicate and written by Chuck Blount, a San Antonio Express-News sportswriter and avid poker player.
"In my column, I cover all aspects of the game," said Blount, from "strategies for both novices and veterans and coverage of the circuit's biggest tournaments to the latest book reviews and player profiles and rivalries."
Earlier this year, United Media launched "Hellmuth's Hold'em" by Phil Hellmuth (E&P Online, Feb. 28) and Card Shark Media introduced "Playing Poker with Daniel Negreanu" (E&P Online, April 19).
More than 65 million Americans regularly play poker, and various TV shows feature the game.

With online poker quickly developing into a multibillion dollar industry, and with online poker players already wagering billions at online poker sites, it's no wonder that interest is mounting for hi-tech methods for conquering the online poker room. A number of techies are trying to develop successful online poker bots, designed to outwit fellow players in the online poker room. While bots have successfully been created for games such as checkers, chess and backgammon, poker poses a further challenge to artificial intelligence specialists as poker features a psychological component that makes quality simulated play more difficult to achieve.
Still, computer pros seem to be up for the challenge, with more and more online poker robots constantly going into development. Next month, Las Vegas will even host an online poker bot tournament, in which coders will have their programs go up against each other in a round of tournament poker. Organizers of the event are even planning an event that will put the poker bot winner head-to-head against this Year's World Series of Poker (WSOP) champion.
