August 25, 2005
Poker players throughout Galway could have the chance to compete at Europe's biggest poker tournament, which takes place in January.
PokerEvents and Boylepoker.com have joined forces to launch the official Boylepoker.com Irish Poker Championship, and events are taking place throughout the country in the run up to the national competition, with local weekly satellites nationwide. These local satellites will feed into regional supersatellites, and the top players from these regional events will qualify for the national final.
The championship comprises a series of events nationwide, which will culminate in the All Ireland Poker Final, a € 1,000 freeze out three day poker tournament with an estimated prize pool of € 500,000. The final will take place in Dublin in January, when players from all over Ireland will have a chance to battle against some of poker's biggest names.
Players can also qualify via Boylepoker.com, the new online poker website from Boylesports. An expected 500 participants will compete for a potential € 500,000 prize fund. Ranking points in the official European Poker League will also be awarded.
The final of the Boylepoker.com Irish Poker Championships will be broadcast live on television, and is expected to bring the cream of European poker talent to Dublin. Supporting events will include € 500 and € 250 freeze out tournaments, with estimated prize funds of € 100,000 and € 75,000 respectively.
"This will be one of the biggest poker tournaments ever staged in Europe," said event promoter Fintan Gavin. "The main tournament will be a three day event giving the best players the time to come out on top."
